Derek Spooner
Known affectionately as, Spoon, Derek and Mars Jacobi go way back to the days of the Interplanetary Race Wars, when he and Mars served together in the War Resistance Movement that eventually quelled the gallactic battle for the natural resources of E2 and evolved into the present-day IPU.
Derek has since put his ace piloting skills to work for Starrry Cross Academy where he works as an "Intramural Transportation Technician" (the glorified term for bus driver), a gig that Mars fanagled for him when this portly old space vet found himself unprepared for civilian life in the sprawling republic of a peaceful IPU.
Spoon can be a bit of an irreverent slob, but his loyalty both to Starry Cross and the Jacobi family is tenacious and true, and he sees the team as his surrogate family, as he lost most of his biological ones in the early days of the gallactic discord.
Spoon also tends to end up the defacto baby-sitter for Mo and Yo since Mars is yet to find a nanny that can tame them.
