River is 15, and a sophomore at Starry

Cross Academy.  On the SCA track team, River does high jump, triple jump, javelin, and pole vault.  He also is a budding pilot, and Mr. Spooner allows him to shadow him on the controls of "Bessie," the SCA transit ship.

River’s parents are of Choctaw Indian decent who were born on the terraformed planet, New Oklahoma, but River himself was born and raised on his parent’s satellite luxury resort that orbits New Dakota.  While his parents are born again Christians, they do much to encourage his connection with their ancient Native American culture, and as a result, River is fluent in Choctaw, and often dresses in the style of his national heritage. He’s a very good runner, but excels in the more dexterous events.  River also uses his Native American percussion skills as drummer for Star Crossed.
