Chuck Payton
Chuck is the 16 year old captain of the Stary Cross track team, which is a big accomplishment considering it's usually seniors who get to bear that honor. He excels in the triple jump, hover jump, and pole vault, and is a natural leader.
Chuck Payton comes from a deeply religious family. His parents are missionaries on the space colony of New Sierra Leone, and his previous socialization before coming to a formal school like Starry Cross was a huge culture shock.
Chuck really enjoys singing, and entertains secret dreams of being in a Christian rock band, though his family’s expectations are for him to follow in their path in missions work. Chuck has also fallen head over heals for Russia Jacobi, and struggles to try and be noticed by her. In his attempt to get close to Russia by getting close to her dad, he ends up forming a special bond with Mars, who sees a lot of himself in Chuck.
Chuck is the lead and acoustic guitar player in a band that he and a few of his teammates have started called, Star Crossed.
